Ang Pinaka: Katakatakang Kwento Part 2 (Urban Legends) – August 30, 2009 episode
Here are the “Ang Pinaka”‘s top urban legends (it means fake) that have circulated around the Philippines for years:
10. The Romblon Triangle – local version of the famous Bermuda Triangle (another urban legend), probably originated because the Romblon sea is an open sea which sometimes could get rough.
9. The missing children in Pampanga – children being abducted inside a roaming white van and reportedly took body parts. This urban legends had been told from text messages, blogs and emails.
8. Babies’ blood and San Juanico Bridge – it was said that Imelda Marcos, the wife of former Philippines President Ferdinand Marcos, ordered to get some babies to be killed and their bloods as sacrifice while the bridge is under construction to make it tough.
7. Rizal is Jack The Ripper – while Jose Rizal was in London, Jack The Ripper was present and when he went back to the Philippines, the killings had stopped. Jack The Ripper likes girls and so Rizal too. They both have the same initials, J.P. (duh, this is one of the most stupid stories I’ve heard)
6. Ghosts in hospitals – stories originated maybe because there are lots of people died in the hospitals.
5. Saboy-asido in jeepneys – a cult or a frat initiation. Members were said to be spraying acids inside a jeepney.
4. Bongbong Marcos is dead – Bongbong, the son of the late Ferdinand Marcos, boarded in an airplane which then later exploded. The Bongbong Marcos people seen in public was just a clone. This urban legend is now vanished.
3. The child with a fish for a twin – a woman gave birth to twins, one is human while the other one is a fish (?!). Sensationalized in televisions and tabloids back then.
2. Alien abductions in Mt. Banahaw – hikers were missing everytime they went up in Mt. Banahaw, a sacred mountain in the Philippines. It was blamed on the aliens and the mountain was said to have a perfect landing site for UFOs.
1.Bulate burger – originated during the time wherein home-grown earthworms is popular as an alternative source of proteins, the hamburgers of a popular burger chain was said to contain worms as the meat patty. It affected the sales of the popular burger chain, but now recovered after the story faded. Happy eating!
